A guardian home is a family that cares for one of our breeding dogs. The puppy grows up in their home, and essentially is their family dog. Once a year (for the females) I borrow the dog for a litter of puppies. The female is bred, and then stays with the family until about a week before the due date. At that point she comes to stay with me, has her litter of puppies, and at the 8 week mark heads back to her family home. When she is ready to retire, I have her spayed and sign ownership of the dog over to the family.
Guardian Responsibilities: Care and day to day expenses for the dog, including food, routine vet appointments, etc.
Breeder Responsibilities: Picking the dog, all expenses related to breeding (initial exams, testing, genetics), any costs related to the healthcare for the dog during pregnancy and welping of the puppies, and final spay/neuter.
Guardian Home Requirements: Must have stable housing and live within the Denver metro area. If you choose to move away, dog will have to come back to live with me until retirement.
