About us
In 2015, my husband and I started a small hobby farm with llamas, poultry, dogs and cats. With 5 acres, we have lots of space for everyone to roam and adventure. Our girls were born in 2017 and 2019, and are gaining farm chores as they get older. At the beginning of 2024, we started a new adventure and moved to Wheat Ridge, bringing the llamas and everyone else with us.
I (Heather) have always loved dogs, and after getting my first boxer, I knew they would always be in my life. Once I married Brodie we started fostering pitties through a local rescue. We took tiny puppies that shouldn't of been removed from their moms and nursed them back to health and helped get them ready for their forever homes. After we purchased a home, I started boarding dogs on top of my remote job which allowed for the flexibility to take the dogs out on adventures during the day. I was always interested in breeding, but wanted to wait until the right time and the right breed. It took about 6 years to settle on Bernedoodles, to find other breeders willing to mentor me, and to get my dogs through the testing process. There was a lot of research involved as I strived to understand what it meant to be an ethical breeder. It was an expensive and somewhat heartbreaking process to rehome our first poodle after he didn't pass his hip x-rays. When our first litter came, we were over the moon. Raising the girls with puppies (or just animals in general) has always been important to me, and I love teaching them care and empathy through caring for these little souls. It is a privilege to have these dogs in our home and part of our family.
